Art Classes

Kate is a qualified trainer teaching art classes and workshops in various venues around Sussex and is a tutor at London Art College. Her classes include beginners workshops in basic drawing skills and introductions to watercolour paints, acrylics or soft pastels through to more specialised workshops on how to paint effective skin tones in acrylic, create visual depth in landscapes and texture in abstracts. She aims to create a relaxed and informal atmosphere in which to learn, create and meet new people and home-made cake is usually on offer too!

Kate’s art classes are 3 hours long, group sizes are kept small and are suitable for men and women of all ages and abilities. An Introduction to Portrait Painting in Acrylics - includes black and white tonal studies in pencil and acrylic paint, head proportions, painting realistic skin tones using advanced colour mixing, scumbling and glazes.

Perspective and Scale - getting realistic depth into your pictures.

Effective Colour Mixing - why blue and yellow sometimes make mud! Know how to mix clean bright secondary and tertiary colours.

Acrylic Landscapes - techniques for painting skies, clouds and sea; trees, meadows and water; good composition and tips for putting depth into a landscape.
